Internet Connectivity Issues

To help diagnose and fix troubleshooting issues, SAIC has created a document to help teams during the competition. Included on this PDF is how to fix:

  • Need to Shutdown or Restart
  • No apperent Internet Connectivity
  • Troubleshooting DNS issues
  • Resolving DNS connectivity issues
  • Troubleshooting virtual network Connectivity issues
  • "Get My Status.html" does not appear

I get network connectivity outside on the host machie but not inside the image. SAIC's PDF did not help.

    • If you were altering the settings with the image's network settings or firewall, please undo those changes and restart the machine.
    • Make sure the virtual network connection is set to NAT.

Password Issues

I cannot find the password for the ZIP file.

    • CyberPatriot emails a link to a PDF (please note, the PDF is not attached to the email) the moment the competition begins. This PDF includes the password to decrypt the image and the password to login to the image.

I cannot find the password to login to the images.

    • Please see the PDF that you referenced to decrypt the image. This PDF includes the password to login to the image.

Zip File Issues

Please check the zip file's MD5 checksum against the MD5 checksum we posted here.

The MD5 checksums are the same.

    • Use 7-Zip to unzip the image, other file extracting programs sometimes do not work. If you are copying and pasting the password, some of the spaces also go into the password and cause the extraction to fail. Please enter the password in by hand.

    • Unfortunately, the ZIP file is corrupt, and you must redownload the image from here.

Scorebot Issues

Even if the scorebot has lost connection, you can still keep working on the image, and when the scorebot reconnects, it will update your score.

The scorebot has not updated in a while.

    • Please start and stop the CyberNEXS client. You can find how to do this in SAIC's troubleshooting PDF. If this does not help, please restart the virtual machine.

The scorebot has lost connection.

    • Please check to make sure you did not block the scorebot from connecting to the internet.
    • Please also check to make sure the virtual image has internet connectivity.
    • Please start and stop the CyberNEXS client. You can find how to do this in SAIC's troubleshooting PDF. If this does not help, please restart the virtual machine.
    • Make sure the virtual network connection is set to NAT.

The scorebot does not connect/I cannot register my image.

    • Please check to make sure that your host computer has internet connection.

My host computer can connect to the internet.

        • Please start and stop the CyberNEXS client. You can find how to do this in SAIC's troubleshooting PDF. If this does not help, please restart the virtual machine.
        • Make sure the virtual network connection is set to NAT.

I do not see "Get My Status.html"

    • Please read the last section of SAIC's troubleshooting PDF.
